Cover Letter

This is my portfolio on my blog. I feel like I have gotten much better with my writing through the process of this class. I understand how to brainstorm my ideas better and come up with thesis statements alot faster. The process of a essay is clear and the format of the paper is way more undertstanding than before. I think my blog (portfolio) deserves a B or B+. I worked hard on my assignments. Sentences have become easier to come up with and making a paragraph the length it needs to be is not hard because I know that it needs 3 examples and a topic sentence. There are little things like tenses in a sentence that are coming to me better than they usually do. I notice the small grammar errors when I use to not. I plan on writing for the rest of my life and this class had definitely helped me become a stronger writer. Im probably going to take english 101 which will be easier for me because I took this class. Im really glad I had the opportunity to take a english class because it not only helps me at MCC but at Westwood. I feel like I am more experienced with writing than alot of other people in my classes. So I can take AA English with no worries. My final writing project is on paper.

Writing Project 5

The influential people in this world are an inspiration to all. There are many reasons I look up to to those kinds of people; such as, being an example, not following the crowd, and going over and beyond on everything they do. I always look for those people who are just amazing and are friends with everyone.
First, being an example to others is one of the biggest things people look at in a friend and who they want to be around. The greatest way to become a better person is to make sure the way people see you is the way you want people to know you. If you dont want to be known in a bad way you should be doing the things you know are right. There is this girl in my english class who is always answering all the question and she is very nice to everyone in my class. I always wish I could be as friendly as her. Knowing that people are watching me and my actions.
Next, following the crowd is the worse thing you could do. There arent very many people out there that can hold themselves back from following society but you will be so much happier when you do your own thing. Everyday thinking about society you may know that the world is very corrupt. When people are bold enough to do what they want to and not be influence by the hurtful world that is truly when that person is the best they can be. Although you may be with all your friends at a party where there is drinking all you should do is walk out. If you have true friends they will understand your decisions and come with you.
Finally, going past the common hard working person. As a friend to someone who will do everything to their full potential you often want to be just like your friend. Doing more and more to be noticed just like your friend is being noticed way more than you are. From a teachers point of view the greatest thing they can see is a student who turns in all their work complete and done even greater than all the other classmates. Not only will this be a great characteristic but going over and above others will create huge opportunities for jobs and other leadership plans.
Concluding, being a influence towards others is only helping our world and the people in it. Being of the world and not in it can be a good standard to live by making sure you are doing whats right and not what others think is okay.

In-Class Writing: Controversial Paragraph

I feel that students should attend high school. First, not going to high school is having no education. The biggest way of getting through life is the knowledge that you have. High school is the essentail way of gaining that knowledge and can help in many areas. Perfecting the subjects you have a hard time in is during your high school years. Second, doing drugs or getting into trouble is bound to happen because of not going to school. All the free time you will have, to do whatever you want and most likely be up to no good. Finally, it is hard to find work when you dont have skills for that job. Most jobs require a person to have the ability to read and write at a high level. The low quality work of people who dont get a education is disliked by many higherers. Many people dont even know how to work hard when all of there teenage years they were free to do whatever and never had to get things done. Concluding, there are benefits for going to high school and its a bad idea if you dont.

Horrible Date: Narrative writing project 3

I got asked on a date by a very weird young man. His name was Adam. I didnt really know him but I couldnt say no. He told me we were going to the movies, dinner, and carving pumpkins. It sounded pretty fun and I was ready for him when he came. He didnt even tell me that we were going with other people but im so glad we were because it would have been so awkward if it was just me and him. Everything was going fine while we were watching "Real Steel" until after the movie he put his arm around me and I was like "oh no!" After the movie we went ended up going to in and out and it took us all night to find the place. When we got there we hit all of the sides of the drive through and we still couldnt reach our food when we got to the window. We decided to go to a park to eat it and when we finally found the park all of our food was cold and soggy. I will never forget the horrible date I went on with him.

Final Classification Paragraph writing project 2

My history class is filled with all different sorts of people. The main major attitudes are lazy, average, and active. First, the lazy people are the ones who are falling asleep in class and never finish what they are doing. During notes they usually gaze off or end up texting. The teacher will often put them in the front of the class so she can check on them every so often. A second attitude is the average. This is where the person can stay on task for a little while but will forget about what they need to get done and stop doing what should come first. The majority is in this category. When an assignment is due the person will hurry and ask someone if they can copy really quick. The last attitude is being active. Being active is the easiest way to know that your grade will always be an A. Also, this requires always turnimg in your work and staying on task. Soon the teacher will let you do more because you showed her the respect she was looking for. In the end, you are benefiting greatly if you try your hardest to be am active participator in the class discussion.

Corn Maze Girl: In-Class Writing

The corn maze is a fantastic place to go. As I visited this place the other weekend I notice how great it is. One reason many people go there is because its not very scary so little children can go and its pretty exciting for adults to. Some people consider it for a date idea and have lots of fun trying to find the way out. At the very beginning when you are buying your ticket they offer candy and or water to keep you satisfied while going through. The corn husks, long green plants and rough dirt terrain can be a real challenge to travel. Not only that but you can find some slithering creatures and miniscule little bugs living right next to you in the plants. There is a little game you can play where you have to find little check marks before you leave. Also after you have found your way out they have fun activites that go with the maze such as, bumper cars and bouncy houses. Anyone no matter what age will have fun at this corn maze.

Division-Classification Paragraph writing project 1

The 3 major attitudes in my history class are lazy, average, and active. First, are the lazy people. They usually are sleeping before the teacher even gets to talk and they never do their homework. A lazy person in my class is always sitting at the front so the teacher can wake them up and be really loud so they can stay awake. When it is time to take notes in class they are usually just gazing off instead of keeping up with the rest of the class. Definition Paragraph

There are many ways to define a slob. With my knowledge a slob is someone who doesn't take care of their body, leaves clutter everywhere they go, and never cleans up their mess. First off, the body is one of the most important things we need to keep clean. If we don't we will realize the results of our lazy actions. For example, when someone smells so bad no one wants to be around them. Not only does their body stink but all of their clothes stink too. Also, when you dont keep yourself clean your hair will become really greasy and/or nappy. People will notice these things so make sure you do to. Second, being cluttered can be a huge way for someone to realize the type of person you are. Such as, a car full of junk that no one ever uses and is just trash. Not only that but when your own room isnt clean or even the whole house being gross. Lastly, the worst thing you could do is to not clean up after yourself. It may seem you are quite clean until someone sees all the wrappers that are left everywhere. It is the same at the home. The laziness of people who dont ever do their dishes and they pile high because no one is willing to stop being a slob and take life seriously. Concluding, not very many people are respected when they act like a slob who doesnt know how to be an adult. So be the bigger person.

Compare and Contrast Paragraph

The differences between volleyball and soccer are huge. They do have their similarities but overall they can be separated in many ways. Three key differences are strategy, team work, and equipment used. First, volleyball has certain plans that help the team win the game; such as, rotations which introduce a way of making the other team think they are one place but really they are in another. When wanting to pass the ball from a hit the strategy is known as "reading the hitter." You can do this by looking at the opponents hitting arm and you will be able to tell where the ball will go. Although, soccer strategies usually have to do with kicking the ball ahead of the open person, not right next to them so the soccer ball will move faster down the field. Coaches will have plays that will make it easier for the forwards to get the ball in the goal. Next, is teamwork. With volleyball there is a lot of team cheering and touching each others butts. Whenever the team is doing good or bad there is a cheer and chant that inspires us to keep working hard. Also, the reason we touch one an others butts is a easy, fast way to say "good job!" Another way we show teamwork is by making eye-contact with the person and calling "mine" or "you go." It's something almost all volleyball teams do. In soccer, teamwork is thought of in a different way. Teammates still root each other on but its not as legit as volleyball cheers. Team members will look each other in the eye but talking isn't as required to win a game as it is for volleyball. At my school the volleyball players are way closer to each other than the soccer players. It all depends on where your at but volleyball requires more team bonding than soccer. Last but not least, is the equipment used. To play a real volleyball game you must have: two 10 foot poles, one net, one volleyball, two refs, and a score keeper. On the other hand, to play a real soccer game you must have: two goals, two refs, one soccer ball, and a score keeper. The similarities are that they both use a ball but they are different because the volleyball is lighter than the soccer ball. Therefore they are still different. Concluding, volleyball and soccer are great sports but you should consider the differences and similarities before seeking a spot on the team.

In a perfect world, my life would be different in these ways. First, my husband would have a full time job and I would be a stay at home mom watching our five kids. His job would be in the area so that if I ever need him he can just stop by really fast. Also, it will save us gas money that is always good to save. Second, is the amount of money we earn. The income would only be coming from my husband because I wont have a job and he will be making around 70,000 dollars a year to support our family. I dont want to be making too much money because money makes people greeding and I want our family to be one people can look at as sharing and caring. Lastly, we will be living in a friendly neighborhood that isnt ghetto and my kids arent scared to play outside. All of our street will be filled with kids on a little colda sack. Making sure we have a white picket fence surrounding our house so we can have a little family dog that everyone loves. This is the epitome of my perfect world.

In-Class Writing

Dear Mom,
I want to thank you for everything you do for me, especailly trusting me, cooking dinner, and talking to me. First, thank you for trusting me every weekend that I will do the right thing because I do. This past friday night when you let me stay out until 12am with all my buds. Im really glad you feel that I am responsible enough to be out for that long. All my other friends parents dont trust them. Also, letting me stay after school instead of coming home and doing chores because you know I will do them when I get home. Second, I love when I come home to the scrumptious smell of ready dinner. My favorite is tuna cassarole. I know that you dont always want to make dinner but i know that you care for me and want me to come home to food. I also love helping you when i can because you deserve it from all the hard work you do for me. Third, whenever I need someone to talk to your always there. I usually go to Liz (best friend) but when i cant your just as good to talk to. The advice you give me is way better than hers because you have already gone through everything I have and maybe even worse. Especailly with guys that I dont know what to do or say.

Process of Flirting

There are many different ways to flirt with the opposite gender. First, you need to know the name of the person and use it when your around them. It makes them feel special and they feel like you actually care. Next, give them complimants. Get to know them and say "hi". If you feel comfortable wink at them every so often and ask them when they can hangout. Then, when you hangout be a super clutz so they can help you when your hurt. Finally, thank them but dont be annoying about it or they'll not want to hangout anymore.

My cousin Aria is a busy person. First of all, out of all the things she does she is a amazing singer. Not to long ago she got offered a scholarship to go sing at Brigham Young University. Of course she took the offer and now she is singing all day, everyday. Every time we go to see her shes either working or singing. Never a dole moment in her life right now but she acts like theres no stress at all. So she goes to work, school, and singing classes each day until she has to come home and do the same thing the next day. Soon she will be married and have babies to add to the weight. Its so fun to see her even when she is worn out because she never shows it and is never a party pooper. I've always wanted to be able to do what she does and acts like she acts. Its not that easy when it comes down to it but theres always that one person who makes the crowd positive.

Is the United States a health conscious nation?

First, the United States is filled with fast food restaurants at every corner. Research has shown that almost all of our nation eats unhealthily. A big example are school lunches. They have gotten better recently but they have always only had unhealthy choices. But now they actually have some salad or fruit instead. The US citizens see these everyday choices as normal and automatic. Concluding, the only way we can change this normality is if we be the example and change ourselves.
